Charsadda triple murder: Main accused escapes Malaysia as police form JIT to probe case

Chief Minister has taken notice of the triple murder case and directed the IGP to conduct inquiry and present a report within two days.


On May 26, three brothers were gunned down in Ali Jan village in the jurisdiction of Umarzai Police Station in Charsadda over a property dispute.

CHARSADDA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Mohammad Naeem Khan has constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the triple murder case in Umarzai.

The Regional Police Officer Mardan Mohammad Ali Khan in a press conference said that under the law, the JIT is comprising senior police officers and representatives of intelligence agencies to investigate the cases registered under the Anti-terrorism Act.

The RPO added that police have included section 7 of Anti-terrorism Act, section 392 of the Pakistan Penal code (dacoity). Khan revealed that police have already nabbed five facilitators involved in the heinous crime. He added a total of 24 suspects have been arrested while police are conducting raids to arrest further accused in the case.

After adding 7 ATA to the case, police will constitute a JIT, he said. Consequently, they issued a notification to that effect signed by the District Police Officer. The police have requested to the directorate general of the ISI, MI and IB to nominate their representatives for the JIT.

The RPO Mohammad Ali Khan along with District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ullah, Superintendent of Police (SP) investigation Nazir Khan and at DPO office claimed that the main facilitator Rubab Naseem has been nabbed by police at Islamabad airport. Naseem is a travel agent in Islamabad had allegedly facilitated the main culprit Nadir Khan in flight abroad to Malaysia.

The RPO explained that the main culprit escaped to the Malaysia where police have requested to the Ministry of Interior, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), NADRA, State Bank of Pakistan and Revenue Department to help the accused arrest and also block his NIC, freeze the accounts and confiscate his properties.

A member of the victim family told The Pakistan Enquirer “We will not be satisfied with the police efforts unless the three main culprits are not arrested. We are feeling unsafe and needed more protection.”

SP investigation, Nazir Khan claimed that police had already provided protection to the victim family as it was now their responsibility. Nazir Khan said the investigation was moving ahead at satisfactory pace as police have succeeded in arresting main suspects while the remaining two would be held within no time. He said that police would never show leniency to any influential suspect wanted in the case and arrest him sooner or later.

The political party’s leadership offered condolences to the victim family and assured them of their support. They also demanded the authorities to investigate the case to its logical end so that the court grants them exemplary punishment.

It is worth to be mention that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has taken notice of the triple murder of brothers in Charsadda. He has asked IGP to conduct an inquiry and present a report within two days.
