PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan on Monday invited independent candidates, who won the election in tribal districts to join Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI). Chief Minister assured that representation to tribal belt in KP cabinet will be given as per the law and constitution of the country.
He was addressing a press conference here at Chief Minister House. Khan appreciated the performance of his party in the election and congratulated all winning candidates, the people of tribal districts, security forces and election commission of Pakistan for the peaceful democratic process in the tribal belt.
Chief Minister also said that PTI will take strict action against workers and leaders who have contested July 20 elections as independent candidates and violated party discipline. The CM warned that violation of election manifesto and party discipline would never be allowed and disciplinary action will be taken against its workers and leadership.
Mehmood Khan said that the peaceful conduct of the election has shown that the people of tribal districts are peaceful loving people and believe in the democratic process. He maintained that PTI government has fulfilled its promise and with this election, the tribal belt has been fully merged with KP and now all those promises which Prime Minister Imran Khan has made with the tribal people will be completed.
He said that the election process was a slap on the face of all those who were against the merger of tribal districts. He said that the PTI contested election in tribal districts for the first time, and did well there.
The Chief Minister repudiates any rift in the party and said that tickets were awarded to some of the ideological party workers by the party’s election committee. He said that all those who did not have the opportunity to contest in this election will be given an opportunity to contest local government election.
