KP food authority recovers 1000kg unhealthy chickens

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority in an operation in Chitral recovered more than 1000kg stale and unhealthy chicken from a vehicle, said a statement.

The action was taken on the instructions of Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan.

According to the statement, the stale chicken was destroyed on the spot. KP food authority Director Operations, Dr Azmatullah Wazir, said various bakery units in Hangu were also inspected. During the operation, 700 liters of stale oil was recovered from the production unit of a bakery, while more than 150 kg of unhealthy chips were seized during the inspection of the chips factory.

Dr Wazir said 460 kg of substandard packing material was also seized from the chips factory in Abbottabad. More than 200 liters of unhealthy and expired drinks were destroyed during the operation in Kurram district. According to Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, operations against adulteration mafia have been intensified across the province, adding that strict action will be taken against those who harm public health.
