Pakistan reports 47 more Covid-19 deaths


PESHAWAR: A total of 47 deaths and 958 new coronavirus cases were reported in Pakistan in the last 24 hours on Tuesday [16 February]. According to the report of the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from virus in Pakistan has surged to 12,333 while the number of infected people has reached 564,077.

In Pakistan, 525,997 people have recovered from the coronavirus and the number of patients undergoing treatment is 25,383, said the NCOC.

The number of active Coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 42,688, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 69,990, in Sindh 253,762, in Punjab 164,268, in Balochistan 18,942, in Azad Kashmir 9,487 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4 9,940 people have been infected with Covid-19.

The highest number of deaths due the Covid-19 was reported in Punjab where 5,051 people lost their lives while 4,219 in Sindh, 1,995 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 486 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 199 in Balochistan and In Azad Kashmir, 281 people have lost their lives. According to the NCOC, during the second wave of Coronavirus, the number of positive cases dropped significantly to 3.9 percent. The situation is back to pre-November 10 levels.

According to the National Command and Operations Center, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in Karachi is 10.68%. The rate of positive cases in Islamabad is 1.18%, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5.25%, in Punjab 5.97% and in Sindh 10.23%. In Azad Kashmir, the positive cases of Coronavirus are 5.97%, in Balochistan 3.52% and in Gilgit-Baltistan 0.56%.
